Another thought (can't stop until I've nailed it): maybe its showing us the importance of having a goal/passion in life that allows us to impact the world somehow. It inspires us to rise above all expectations and to try even harder in the face of impossibility. However we shouldn't be discouraged when our dreams are damaged through failures since life is never straightforward. If we learn to turn from despair, we might learn that anything is possible - such is the extent of our potential.

Thanks. Yeah you're right - quite a large oversight! Don't really know what I'm talking about. Think I'll just say: We can't all be heroes despite good intent... What a great song - it really highlights how gifted Fran Healy is vocally. All of his lyrics draw upon such powerful emotions. This is my second favourite song of Travis behind driftwood (also love both the videos).

Surely by now in your life you will have realised people hate a smart ass. You even overlooked the fact that if he hadent done the pushups he wouldnt have been there...

But it was really to little purpose. His energies were misdirected and his success can be seen as rather contrived and inconsequential in light of the assault unfolding before his eyes. Think how much more glorious it could have been if he conserved his energy and swallowed his pride, enabling him to assist the victim. Nonetheless, we must question whether he would have succeeded, outnumbered as he was.

We dont even know whether the man sustained fatal injuries much of the video rests of unresolved conclusions. This is why the video is so arresting. In short, this song portrays altruism; the renaissance of perspective; hope in spite of overwhelming odds, failure and the evanescence of human will; to be a pillar of strength for those in need and retaining these goals as the supreme guiding principles of our lives above all else.

were vague imitations? Didn't the pushup guy end up trying to save the other guy. It is not concrete that Mr. Pushups was trying to be narcissistic, but rather punish himself until his goal was achieved (asuming he had to do push-ups for a whole day. Remember, he asked for the women's help and he recieved. He tried to help the victum at the end, but just couldn't deliver. You cannot say Mr. Push-ups is narcassist. Powned.
